Does singing get any more powerful in lyrics and delivery? I think not. Great show as always. No bright coloured hair anymore, but hey, lucky to have hair with older age.

Lucy Ward is an award winning singer songwriter from Derby. She plays guitar, ukulele and concertina but considers her voice to be her first instrument. After winning the Horizon Award (Best Newcomer) at the 2012 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, Lucy’s career has gone from strength to strength establishing herself as one of the hottest performers on the UK Folk scene, pulling a capacity audience on her Cambridge Folk Festival debut and gracing the mighty Acoustic Stage at Glastonbury in 2013. Her elevation to the top of the folk ladder was acknowledge with a nomination for the BBC Folk Singer of the Year Award at the Royal Albert Hall in February 2014. Lucy is the youngest artist ever to be nominated for this prestigious award.
Her second album 'Single Flame' was released on Navigator Records on Monday 19th August 2013 to widespread acclaim. Mark Radcliffe (BBC Radio 2) called it, "mature and unflinching" and the Guardian, awarding it 4 stars, said the album was "Impressive and original". Brilliant reviews also rolled in from the national music magazines with Spiral Earth suggesting it was; "One of the albums of the year for sure." This was acknowledged at the end of 2013 when 'Single Flame' came second in the MOJO Folk Album of the Year Chart.
Her debut album “Adelphi Has To Fly” (Navigator Records 2011) was also met with widespread critical acclaim. She was named by MOJO as "Britfolk’s most vibrant and forthright new young talent" and attracted four star reviews from The Guardian and Maverick Magazine among others.
"Lucy, is a breath taking presence on stage. Her unpretentious outlook and warmth melts the hearts of audiences. Her disarming personality, pitch perfect delivery and the maturity of her songs can reduce an audience to tears, but a Lucy Ward set will always send you away feeling uplifted.” Shrewsbury Folk Festival (2013)
