Acerca De Simple Sin

Simple Sin is a band that came together out of an idea, a diverse pool of talent, and a lot of luck. In late 2014, lead guitar player and primary song writer Joe Scura began searching the Jersey Shore for musicians to help bring his song ideas to life. Joe hails from Staten Island, NY and re-located to Ocean County in the early 2000’s. A craigslist posting led bassist/vocalist (and only New Jersey native) Scott Savage to an informal jam session with Joe. The 2 had similar musical influences (The Beatles, Chicago, Yes) and both loved to write and record in their respective home studios. After a few “jam/writing” sessions, Joe and Scott realized they had enough original material to put together an actual performing band. The next piece of the puzzle (also through craigslist!) was drummer/percussionist Pat Silvey, who had recently re-located to NJ from St. Louis, MO. Pat’s musical influences range from symphony orchestras, to progressive rock. This wide range of influences contributes to Simple Sin’s foundation and distinctive fusion of musical genres . During the Summer and Fall of 2015, Simple Sin played several shows on the Jersey Shore circuit with vocalist Matt Brown, who has since decided to leave the band to pursue other interests. Back to a 3-piece with Scott handling vocal duties, the band realized something was missing from their sound. Enter Fort Wayne, Indiana transplant - guitarist Eric Carano. Though Eric did not have much stage experience, his years spent disecting Eddie Van Halen and Yngwie Malmsteen solos brought a new dimension to the Simple Sin sonic assault. Joe and Eric’s playing styles exhibit a stark contrast, yet together they sound like 5 guitarists on stage. The newly formed quartet landed a gig in July 2016 opening for metal up-and-comers Scattered Hamlet, and Southern Rock legends Blackfoot at The Brighton Bar in Long Branch, NJ. Ultimately, Simple Sin felt it needed one final element. Once again, the band posted an ad on craigslist, this time for a lead singer. One-year NJ resident Walt Govern, former front-man of Bethlehem, PA original rock band Governing Murphy, re-located to Ocean County from the Lehigh Valley, PA. After a year of being away from the stage, Walt wanted to get back in front of an audience and play killer ORIGINAL rock'n'roll. Coming across the band’s listing, Walt contacted Joe to arrange a jam session, and Simple Sin was complete. The classic/progressive rock sound of the band, blended with Walt's grunge influenced vocal style sets up this unique group of performers to take the Jersey Shore (and beyond) by storm. 5 musicians from 5 different states. 1 SIMPLE SIN. Come out and HEAR us soon!!!
