Lovely Dark

Cinematic rock with dark & witchy vibes, Lovely Dark is a female-led, two-drummer indie band from Minneapolis that combines powerful vocals, cascading rhythms, and a wall of sound - navigating between distorted post-punk guitars and the foreboding drones of a darkened forest. Their music has been described as witchpunk and pagan prog by reviewers. Starting in 2011, Lovely Dark formed as a collective, and their first public performance show was live on the University of Minnesota's Radio K.
Their forthcoming record "Golden Bough" is their fifth album and another step forward - bigger and darker with songs that are at once complex and infectiously listenable, raucous and razor-sharp. Led by songwriting duo Sonia and Travis Even, Lovely Dark takes on a more complex, louder sound with influence of their members who play in the math rock band self-evident and the noise band Buildings. The album was self-recorded, allowing for a unique lush production, and was mixed and mastered by Swedish engineer Magnus Lindberg (Cult of Luna, Chelsea Wolfe).
