Acerca De sleepmakeswaves
keepin' it lowercase since 2006... sleepmakeswaves have had a busy 6 years since the release of their debut album '...and so we destroyed everything' in 2011. 17 Australian tours, 5 European tours and 2 North American tours They've toured with 65daysofstatic, Karnivool, Russian Circles, Dead Letter Circus, Boris, Tortoise & in 2012, 2014 & 2017 were unprecedentedly nominated for an ARIA award. In 2014, the band released their most epic record to date - 'Love Of Cartography' signals their continued desire to map new creative directions. Recorded with Nick DiDia at Studios 301, the album's singles 'Something Like Avalanches' & 'Great Northern' received airplay on triple j and across Australian & international community & college radio. 'Love of Cartography' was also nominated for an ARIA Award, J Award, AIR Award and 3 AU Review Awards. 2015 kicked off with a massive 55-date, 22-country tour, with the band spending 3 months on the road, including playing to packed rooms across the UK, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Show 55 at Sydney's iconic Metro Theatre was a memorable homecoming for the band and recorded for posterity by triple j for Live at the Wireless. 2015 will wrapped up with a massive hometown party at Sydney's Manning Bar, as well as Port Macquarie's Festival of the Sun on Dec 11. 2016 saw the band's return to North America alongside prog rockers The Contortionist and Monuments, as well as touring with reunited alternative rock legends COG and headlining their own shows in Australia. The end of the year saw the band head in to write up their much-anticipated third album. 2017 has seen the release of that album - "Made of Breath Only" has propelled the band on their busiest touring year to date, with 4 Australia tours, multiple trips to the UK and Europe, headlining their biggest ever tour of China and hitting #15 on the ARIA Charts (#1 on the 100% Independent Chart) for their new album. Lead singles 'Tundra' and 'Midnight Sun' have aired on triple j radio, as well as the band hitting almost 1 million views of their Like A Version cover of Robert Miles' Children. Expect more shows, plenty of noise and a few more surprises from this instrumental quartet in future. Expect more touring, more volume and a few more surprises from the Australian instrumental rock quartet in 2016. New album 'Made of Breath Only' out now www.sleepmakeswaves.com/store
