Latin music superstar Frankie Negrón has been called "the genre's next definitive voice” by All Music Guide. Since 1997, his distinct blend of traditional salsa with progressive influences such as pop, rock, gospel, R&B, hip-hop, and reggaetón has garnered numerous plaudits. Negrón has earned many Grammy nominations, Billboard Award nods, and two Premio Lo Nuestro Awards for “Song of the Year”. He’s also had several number one singles, four gold and platinum albums, and nine Billboard Top 40 Hot Latin Tracks. His last album, his ninth overall, 2009’s Independence Day (Airgo Music), earned enthusiastic reviews from New York Times’ Jon Pareles who highlighted it in his seasonal record release roundup.
