Acerca De Matt Jordan
He may not be much of a talker, but he’s got an awful lot to say. Matt Jordan may be a quiet guy in conversation but he more than makes up for it with his prolific storytelling through song. Described as having a “hint of Springsteen's restlessness and Petty's recklessness,” Jordan is gearing up for the release of his debut EP in September.
He has already garnered the attention of American Songwriter, The Boot and The Shotgun Seat, but his humble roots began in the suburbs of St. Louis. Born to a family of singers, music was just a normal part of the daily family life. His parents raised him on the American classics, like Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, and The Eagles, and those legends have had a major impact on his songwriting style.
The choice to pursue music professional was an easy one. Matt explains: “Totally honestly, it’s the only thing I love to do. I studied business and I work in the business world to support my family right now, but music is the only thing I can’t put down. There’s a fulfillment in finishing a new song, or singing my songs from a stage to a crowd of people listening that I’ve never gotten anywhere else.”
After taking a few years away from the stage and the studio to start a family, Jordan is diving headfirst back in. "Having kids changes everything," he says. "and having some time off, I was able to go back to the drawing board. We got a new band, recorded some new tunes, polished up some old ones and are writing like never before." Inspired by the greats of Heartland, Matt is setting out to sing real songs about real life- no fluff or commercial nonsense. The kind of music that makes your heart beat.
The future proves promising for the talent as he prepares to release new music by Grammy award-winning producer Sal Oliveri. Matt explains: “Sal and I love a lot of the same music and we have a lot of the same beliefs and views about the world, so we’ve just clicked from day one. He’s not only been a great producer, but an incredible mentor and friend. I’ve learned a lot of lessons from him not only about music but about being a good husband and father.”
