Acerca De Talib Kweli & Madlib

"Liberation" is the surprising free collaborative album from the legendary emcee Talib Kweli and the underground hip hop producer Madlib.

Talib Kweli

(born Talib Kweli Greene in Brooklyn, NY on October 3, 1975) is an American rapper from Brooklyn, New York. He is one of the most known rappers in underground hip-hop, and is frequently critically acclaimed, despite not having significant commercial success. His name in Arabic, means "seeker/student of truth"[1]. His parents were both college professors: his mother an English professor, his father a sociology professor. As a youth, he was drawn to Afrocentric rappers, such as De La Soul and other members of the Native Tongues Posse and soon began recording with producer Hi-Tek and rapper Mos Def whom he had known since the two attended high school together.

Madlib

was born Otis Jackson Jr in Oakland, California to musician parents Otis and Senesca Jackson. He was raised in Oxnard, and currently works in Los Angeles. He began making music with the rap group Lootpack in the early 1990s. After an independently released EP, Lootpack caught the attention of Peanut Butter Wolf, founder of the Stones Throw Records label. They released two singles and a full-length album on the Stones Throw imprint in 1999. Madlib also worked with rap group Tha Alkaholiks for several albums.

"Liberation" was available as a free downloaded at http://www.rappcats.com and http://www.stonesthrow.com/index.html . Now Stones Throw's website states "This 9-track collab was a free download for the first week of 2007. Stay tuned for possible release." (http://www.stonesthrow.com/madlib). Okayplayer.com has a "limited copies" of Liberation in their store as well.
