I first met Davy Knowles in Portland in 2009 while he toured America with his blues trio, Back Door Slam. I saw him and the band at Bonnaroo a couple years later. I've followed his career ever since. This tour was an acoustic show and delivered! First, the opening act. Peppino D'Agostino left Sicily over thirty years ago and carved himself a magical niche in the music world with his acoustic guitar skills. He straddled the flamenco with the blues, the classical with the Bo Didley beat. All the while, witty, charming and humble. The set could have gone another hour, I would have been happy. Now, Davy Knowles, on this tour, opened his life book and turned pages for us, narrating the narrow path with three different acoustic guitars. Well, two guitars and an eight string, octave mandolin. We heard how he acquired the first, an antique looking National, and through the first third of the show he made it sing on songs like his cover of John Redbourne's Wildest Pig In Captivity, If I Should Wander and the deeply personal Only Son. He switched to the Mandolin for the middle of the show, highlighted with the beautiful homage to Colorado's Bridal Veil. The last portion of the show was performed on a standard looking acoustic six string. He showed humor (Drunk Mind, Sober Heart), heart (Meet My Maker) and soul (Coming Up For Air). He finished his set with the lovely Taking You With Me, honoring his family. And then his one of his blusiest (IMHO) tunes, Tear Down these Walls. He finished with a couple of duets with Peppino D'Agostino and their interplay and virtuosity on their instruments flowed easily. A well earned standing ovation followed. Throughout the evening, Davy Knowles mad us chuckle a lot, He made us think a bit, made me cry a bit, made the room love him just a bit more for who he is. An honest, humble troubadour who writes and sings from his heart. I couldn't be prouder of the man he's become.

Fantastic solo acoustic set. Both Peppino and Davy were mesmerizing and it was nice to hear a bit about the inspiration and influence that went into the songs. Great show and a great venue!

One of the finest guitarists around and he nailed it all night at the picturesque Blue House. Perhaps my favorite show of the year and it was no doubt a plus that I scored a second row aisle seat minutes before the excellent opening act, Mojo Triangle hit the stage. Davy remains one of rock and blues’ best kept secrets.

Davy is a remarkable guitarist, singer and songwriter. His Charlotte, NC show at the Neighborhood Theater was a perfect showcase for this amazing talent. If you’ve never seen Davy before, prepare to be blown away by his skill and the raw emotion coming through his performance to his audience. Never miss a chance to catch him! One of a kind!!

Fantastic! Every single song was perfection! Davy’s electric guitar skills are out of this world, and thoroughly enjoyed his acoustic guitar talents as well. Love the tribute to his Father. This was my third time seeing Davy, brought friends and they loved it! Make a point to see his show, you will not be disappointed!

Davy and his blues/rock band put on a great show! He’s an amazing guitar player with a great mix of new songs and fan favorites. Fanatics was a perfect venue that seated about 100 people comfortably with lights, good food and drinks, and a great atmosphere. We saw him there last year also and would absolutely go again!

Not necessarily the best venue, not necessarily the best sound system, but the place has a vibe and Davy absolutely killed it. I've seen him three times over about 15 years and he keeps getting better.

What an Amazing show. Davy Knowles shreds his guitar like no one I've ever seen! The Steepwater band was Fantastic too! If you love Great guitar playing, go see both of these bands!!

This was a high energy and Fun show from start too finish. Davy Knowles was on fire with his lead guitar licks and vocals and Jerry McAvoy was a firecracker with his bad ass bass ... both backed up by an amazing drummer......this is a must see show....Spectacular !!!

I made a memory plate for Davy 10 years ago and I got to give it to him at this concert! He was very gracious! The sound was amazing!

Of my over 300+ concerts in the last 51 years (the first being Jimi Hendrix) I put this concert in my top 5 (in the company of Hendrix, Clapton, Trower & Gilmore)... Davy is a true entertainer and master guitar player that must be seen live! He is well on his way to the front of the pack! Do not ever miss an opportunity to see him perform. Watching someone with that much talent, passion and love of what they do is always a pleasure....

Davy Knowles always fabulous! The venue was not our favorite. I hope the next time we see Davy in Seattle. He’ll be at the Triple Door, Jazz Alley or Hwy 99 Blues club. The three best venues in Seattle. Amazing!

Gerry McAvoy: masterfully woven bass tones and rhythm,playing which complement Davy's playing and bring it to life. He looks like he has more fun than anyone should be allowed to have while performing. Ted McKenna: Laying down the foundations with incisive, masterfully artistic rhythms and counter-rhythms. Davy Knowles band was exceptional. I first saw them in October as a three piece band. Saturday they were a four piece band as they added a keyboard player who is also exceptional. It won't be long before they are filling up much larger venues.

Davy Knowles is clearly an exceptionally underrated guitar player and musician. On Saturday night I witnessed one of greatest displays of blues by a guitar player I have ever experienced in a small club.

Davy played a fantastic show. Great guitar playing and solos. Band mates were exceptional as well. Very humble man that needs to be as well known as Joe Bonamassa. Looking forward to seeing him again at an indoor setting.

The show demonstrated Davy immense love of the blues and his music heroes and knowledge of blues history shine though in his original songs. He is a lovely young man and has always been talented beyond. I feel privileged and honored to know him and and able to attend his shows. Davy Knowles is a brilliant brilliant blues man and a 'must see' at least once in your lifetime. Purchase Davy's music catalog, you will not be disappointed. The first time I saw Davy , he blew the roof off the place. I've lost count the number of times I have seen him since that first time, but each time is better than the last. No exception this time, one fantastic show.
