Mindy Smith (born June 1, 1972 on Long Island, New York) is an American singer-songwriter. Mindy rose to fame in 2003 when she was the first artist signed to contribute to the Dolly Parton tribute album Just Because I'm a Woman: Songs of Dolly Parton, in which she sung a cover of Parton's classic "Jolene". Later Dolly Parton followed by adding backing vocals to a new mix of the song, which was then featured on Smiths debut album that was released in January 2004, One Moment More.
In 2006 she released her second album Long Island Shores. Smith included Buddy Miller as a duet vocalist for What If The World Stops Turning?
In October 2007, Smith released a Christmas album, My Holiday. In addition to several standards, Smith wrote six original Christmas-themed songs. One standout, I Know the Reason, includes duet vocals by Thad Cockrell.

My name is Greg and I never heard of Mindy until this show. I was interested because she was raised on Long Island like I was, attended non denominational church like I do, moved south like I did. I found that funny.
Anyway when I listened to her sing I was mesmerized. She has that quality that just pulls you in with such emotion. She’s from what I gathered, seems so genuine and deep. I met her after and told her I’m a new fan. I play guitar and understand the connection between life and music and she has perfected it. I wish I could literally spend time just talking snd listening to her but luckily I at least have her music. I hope to see her again and get to feel that wonderful feeling I had tonight. Great lyricist, singer and guitar player. I was truly blessed tonight so thanks Mindy!!
