Θανάσης Παπακωνσταντίνου

Θανάσης Παπακωνσταντίνου {Thanasis Papakonstantinou} (born 1959) is a greek singer-songwriter.

Born in Tyrnavos, Greece on 26th April 1959, he studied Mechanical Engineering in Thessaloniki, which he practised for a while before devoting himself exclusively to music. After military service, he had a spell of handcrafting traditional Greek musical instruments.

Now living in Larissa, he writes music in the greek folk idiom, stemming from his own recollections of traditional songs his parents sang while working in the field, often combining them with modern and rock elements. He usually writes his own lyrics or uses poems. He has collaborated with numerous notable artists from the Greek music scene, such as Γιάννης Αγγελάκας (Giannis Aggelakas), Μελίνα Κανά (Melina Kana), Λιζέτα Καλημέρη (Lizeta Kalimeri), Σωκράτης Μάλαμας (Sokratis Malamas), Νίκος Παπάζογλου (Nikos Papazoglou) and Διονύσης Σαββόπουλος (Dionisis Savvopoulos).
