The Architect is an uncompromising metal 5-piece hailing from the Netherlands' most northern city of Groningen. Comprised of Groningen metal and hardcore veterans and one former frontman – Geert van der Velde - of the near legendary hardcore band Shai Hulud.
This band has all the talent, musical firepower and ferocity that a true metal band should have. 2006 saw the band slowly honing their live skills on the road playing all over Europe; including a self-booked and highly successful European Summer tour; a spot on Groningen’s Eurosonic Festival, a spot on the Noordschok festival, a dazzling performance at Frederica Fest (Denmark’s premier underground music fest) 2006; a mini UK tour, and many more outings to Germany and Belgium. Proving to audiences all over that The Architect is a band to be reckoned with. It also shows that the band has it’s eyes set on international acclaim rather than staying within the limited confines of that tiny little corner of the world called The Netherlands. The Architect’s appetite is huge and they aim to appease it.
They have worked hard 2006. The fruit of their toils being the band's self-introduction to the world: "Welcome the Miscreants". A collection of 6 raw and fast-paced metal tracks in the vein of Darkest Hour, At The Gates or even Carcass. Recorded by up and coming Dutch producing prodigy and engineer of “raw” sounds, Nico van Montfort.
It is the Architect's finest material and hands down Geert's best perfomance on any recording he has ever been on. They aim to prove it in 2007.
The band already has another spot on Groningen’s Eurosonic fest and another mini UK tour lined up in January only to follow it up with another European Tour supporting THE ACACIA STRAIN & LENG T’CHE (March/April). After that the band has set it’s eyes on The US and possibly even the Pacific. 2007 is shaping up to become THE ARCHITECT’s ground breaking year.

+ A headlining spot on the "Groverpop" stage during the Netherlands' 'Eurosonic' Festival (comparable to SouthBySouthwest in the US) resulting in an interview with BBC 2 Radio.
+ A 4 day tour of South England (+ a follow up tour in December with buddies Instil)
+ A spot on Denmark's Fredericia Fest" (Raised Fist, Sworn Enemy, 100 Demons + more)
+ A two week European tour of Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, Italy, Belgium and The Netherlands; including 4 dates on the Shai Hulud, Remebering Never and Parkway Drive tour.
