It is about risk, about exhaustion, about commitment far beyond measure. Above all, iedereen is about the urgency and the energy, which will grab you directly by the collar.

At least part of their inspiration comes from the post-punk of the late 70's and early 80's, when bands like Wire, Gang Of Four or Devo didn't conquer the planet, but at least the hearts of the people with their vision, attitude and a sense for the slightly odd. iedereen groove robotically, sing neurotically, lyricize fatalistically - always with a loose fist so they can deal out a few blows to their listeners at any time.

But even if some of the iedereen references point to the past, it has nothing to do with nostalgia and the belief in the superiority of yesterday. This band is rock solidly anchored in the here and now. The lyrics and topics all revolve around our lives in 2023: From Self-Care Sunday to shared Amazon Prime membership, from speed limits to a chronic tinnitus, from Niki not reading WhatsApp messages to the modern man who has to find or search or lose himself. The performance, the arrangements and also the variety of themes draw in a second level here, which pilot iedereen far away from the lowlands of dusty old rock music.

iedereen know how to play the postmodern game not only with their quotations and references, but also with a good amount of middle fingers. Every person who has ever experienced one of these mental live performances will understand: In the end, the band is not only about reflection, but at least as much about living in the very moment, about the point of almost fainting, about physicality, about celebration and hedonism.

You have reality? We have an exit strategy! If everyday life was a prison, iedereen would smuggle a nail file into the cell, that you either use to saw through the bars - or just to directly knock a hole into the damn wall. That's the sound of escapism in 2023!
