Acerca De Mary Frances

Mary Frances
Mary Frances, a 19-year-old multi-instrumentalist from Douro, Ontario, has shared the stage with her parents, renowned fiddlers Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy, in over 600 performances. Now, she steps into her own spotlight with her debut solo album, First Light. Co-produced with Cuban guitarist Elmer Ferrer, the album melds Celtic, Latin, and jazz influences, reflecting her innovative spirit and versatility on both fiddle and piano.
The title track of First Light garnered the 2024 Cape Breton Tourism Award, underscoring her compositional talent. In the same year, she graced stages at prominent festivals such as Celtic Colours, Broad Cove Scottish Concert, the Nova Scotia Stampede, Milwaukee Irish Fest, and Australia's Woodford Folk Festival. Her collaborations include performances with esteemed artists like Yo-Yo Ma, Béla Fleck, and Jerry Douglas.
Growing up as the eldest of seven in a musically rich family, Mary Frances naturally transitioned from ensemble performances to a solo career. Her sound is influenced by Celtic legends Buddy MacMaster and Howie MacDonald, jazz pianist Bill Evans, and Latin pop star Marc Anthony, creating a unique blend of tradition and innovation.
A TikTok video featuring her has amassed over 2.4 million views, signalling her growing digital presence. With an eventful 2025 ahead, Mary Frances continues her family's legacy of musical excellence while carving out her own distinct path. Reflecting on her journey, she shares, "It doesn't feel like a duty to my family to perform; it feels like a duty to myself because I know I have so much to give."
First Light is a testament to that promise.

Lo que dicen los fans
Mary Frances, Michael and Remi are simply phenomenal. Their talent is incredible and they still humble and kind like true Cape Bretoner heritage shows. I've follow their Mom since I was younger and since watching her show last year with the whole family I'm just in AWE. Please keep coming back to NS cause I wouldn't miss another show like this one!
