Acerca De Karma and the Killjoys

Karma is a bitch. When lifelong actors and theater majors Rain Scott-Catoire and Sydni Myers suddenly found themselves ditching their acting careers and writing songs together in the practice rooms on campus, they had no idea how fervently music would take a hold of their lives in an exhilarating turn of events. The fusion of Rain’s classical piano background mixed with the two’s theatrical prowess and shared love of rock music created what the band deems “piano-rock”—not unlike Ben Folds, Fiona Apple, Regina Spektor, Billy Joel, or Queen. When these two vocalists collided with a piano to create the wonderfully strange concoction of piano-rock that is Karma and the Killjoys, it was nothing short of nirvana.

Karma and the Killjoys just released their debut album Hellscape, recorded at Dockside Studios with Grammy Award-winning engineer Tony Daigle. The band recently played at major festival Red River Revel in Shreveport, LA opening for Big Freedia, and twice at Festival International in Lafayette, LA, playing alongside Lauren Daigle, Tank & the Bangas, and more. They've headlined twice at Live @ Five in Natchez, MS as well as sold out the Manship Theatre in their hometown of Baton Rouge. Their songs have been featured on many playlists, including “Rock Releases,” Round Magazine's “Found by 'Round,” Derringer Discoveries' “Turnip Music Radio,” where their song "Fate is You" was voted #1 best song of February 2023, and were also featured on an episode of The Bob Cesca Show. The band performed live for River City Sessions at Presonus, where they played their single “Fuzzy Socks.” They've done interviews on Throughline Podcast, Derringer Discoveries, and on Great Day Louisiana, a live segment on WWL-TV New Orleans where they performed 3 songs from their album. Other press includes an album review in Offbeat Magazine and the Advocate.

Karma and the Killjoys is Rain Scott-Catoire (piano, vocals, songwriting), Sydni Myers (vocals, songwriting), Michael Blount (guitar), Tim Marchand (bass), and Thomas Vercher (drums).
