The False Positives play original country songs with thick, three-part harmony vocals as well as raging old time tunes thrown in for kicks. Our name is inspired by banjo legend and former Monroe Bluegrass Boy Steve Arkin, who coughed during a Covid-pod jam session and then, the next morning, informed everyone that he had tested positive, causing us all to panic and solo quarantine during Thanksgiving 2020. We later learned that we had fallen victim to one of those rare, elusive PCR false positives. While the world was temporarily shut down, fiddler Rachel Rosenberg took advantage of her newfound free time by writing catchy, harmony-centric country songs inspired by her heroes Loretta Lynn, Hank Williams, and Buck Owens. Joining Rachel are some of her best friends and the most interesting, creative and talented musicians in Boston — Sophie Wellington, guitar and fiddle; Zach Meyer, mandolin; Dan Bui, bass; and Mike Harmon, drums.
