Acerca De Something Else
The story of Something Else began on a sunny afternoon in July of 2005 when the musical talents of Michael J. Klock (a.k.a. "Klocker") and Johnny "football hero" Cummings were brought together by a mutual drummer friend, Anthony Ciulla to form a cover band for a high school graduation party. Little did they know what was in store for them following their magical first encounter in the realm of rock. Klock and Johnny quickly became best friends and came to the realization that they were a musical match made in heaven.
It started with 2-piece gigs @ Woody's II every other Friday night under the name "Klock and Johnny." Then they needed a drummer, so in steps Johnny's long time friend from Bergen, Joe Myers. Due to a shoulder injury, after about 6 months or so Joe was out of commission and in steps Klocker’s buddy Ryan Smith. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Joe because a few months later he teamed up with Mike's brother Matt Klock on bass and lead singer/guitarist John Sacheli to form the local Folk/Rock/Alt. Country band "The Spirit of Ontario."
Then one day Mike's little sister Amy said to him "hey, why don't you call your band "Something Else", cuz everybody's always sayin' "Man, you guys are somethin' else" and thus Something Else became the name of the band.
Then in Jan of 2006 “Klock and Johnny” teamed up with drummer Dominic Ciaccia. His powerful drumming brought a new energy to the trio that in turn helped land them a gig @ A-Pub Live, which has since then become their “second home.”
In July of 2010 Dominic Ciaccia left behind his SE legacy to pursue a project with the incredibly talented Melia Mac, which brings us to the introduction of their current drummer Michael Lasaponara. Prior to his arrival Lasaponara had recorded/toured with several up and coming bands including Roses are Red, Nocturnal Me and Cute is What We Aim For.
Something Else is one of the most entertaining cover bands in Rochester to date, and they are one of the hardest working bands around. In addition to playing covers Klock and Johnny have been steadily working on producing their own original music. It will be interesting to see what transpires within the next seven and a half years. In the meantime, come out to a Something Else show and "Everybody Dance Now"
