Acerca De Jen Lush

Adelaide singer-songwriter Jen Lush is known for her spacious, emotive vocals, passionate live performances and soaring, starkly modern folk songs that detour into darker pop ballads to hammer on your heart.

From her diverse artistic background in dance, theatre and electronica music in Europe and the UK, to the folk-rock decade with Cat Dog Bird, her most recent solo album The Night’s Insomnia – a collection of contemporary Australian poetry crafted into songs, has taken Jen and her stellar band to festivals and venues throughout South Australia, Victoria, NSW and Tasmania.

Currently recording a new album due for release in 2021, Jen returns to the deeply personal, taking the magnifying glass to the small idiosyncrasies of motherhood, art and life in the suburbs, whilst examining the broader environmental and political landscape of our current times.

Jen has recently collaborated on other music projects including Steve Lennox’s lighthouse-keeping song cycle ‘In the Lighter Dark’ released in 2020, as well as writing a second collection of poems into songs for a new commissioned work with leading WA and SA poets at the 2021 Denmark Festival of the Voice.

“A collection of poems put to beautiful music and sung with such reverence and thoughtfulness, ‘The Night’s Insomnia’ is masterful, deep and alluring. This music is the sound of dusk descending upon the Adelaide Hills in the Summer like a cool, sheer blanket and the voice of Jen Lush is the stars that poke through it. Just beautiful!” Khristian Mizzi
