Acerca De Amanda Shaw

Amanda Shaw is a rising teenage star from Mandeville Louisiana whose All-American good looks and musically savvy blend of traditional cajun fiddle playing with contemporary pop & blues music influences has her poised for the big time.

She's been one of the top selling artists in the CD tent at the New Orlean's Jazz & Heritage Festival, and her 3rd album "Pretty Runs Out" scheduled for release on Rounder Records in January 2008 features the title track and the emphasis track "I Don't Want To Be Your Friend".

Previous to working with Scott Billington of Rounder, Shaw put out two independently-released albums, "The Black Dog" (2001) and "I'm Not a Bubble Gum Pop Princess" (2004) -- the latter featured covers of influential punk bands' The Clash's Should I Stay or Should I Go and Ramones' "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend" (changed to "Girlfriend"). On "Pretty Runs Out" she also collaborates with Anders Osborne and Shannon McNally.

Shaw has since co-starred along with fellow Louisiana musician Tab Benoit in the IMAX film "Hurricane On The Bayou", and has been seen in other films such as "Dancing to New Orleans" and two Disney Channel productions "Now You See It" and "Stuck In The Suburbs". She's also appeared on television programs including The Rosie O'Donnell Show, and Univision's Sabado Gigante. She appears regularly in Louisiana on the festival circuit, and at gigs across the country with notables like Charlie Daniels, Delbert McClinton and others. Shaw has decided at a young age to pursue her music career full time and has dropped out of New Orleans' Mt. Carmel School, and is more likely seen hanging around the bar at Mid City Lanes wearing false eyelashes chatting up the far more seasoned road musicians.
