The show that Bad Suns put on was very good; the acoustics were not. The 3 star rating is mostly due to the venue. The venue is intimate; it's basically an open area where everyone stands. There are areas on the sides where a person may be fortunate enough to sit. I mention this for the shorter people in the audience. If you don't maneuver your way towards the stage, you are going to be listening to the entertainment but not viewing them. It reminded me of the Ace of Spades in Sacramento; there are places to sit at the Ace of Spades if you want to pay considerably more. The Independent, which is the venue where Bad Suns performed, has a very limited balcony area but it was off limits for some reason. Back to Bad Suns' performance: the band performed for about 90 minutes. I am a big fan of the artist. The acoustics and the band's equipment did not play nice together.
There were many times where it was hard to make out the vocals. Nonetheless, Bad Suns put on a very good show. If planning to attend a show at the Independent, I strongly suggest arriving early as parking availability is horrible.

It was okay, not as good as it could've been. I paid for VIP tickets, but missed the VIP meet and greet due to misreading the email with the information. I showed up at the venue 2 hours before the concert instead of 2 hours before doors open, which is my mistake. Unfortunately, my girlfriend began to feel ill, and I had to leave the concert early despite wanting to stay. It wasn't an amazing night but wasn't terrible either. Just kind of bummed since I was really looking forward to going to my first real Bad Suns concert and it didn't turn out how I hoped.

I genuinely believe that it's impossible for Bad Suns to not put on a great performance. This was our second time seeing one of their concerts and they come prepared to give WAY more than your money's worth in great music. Christo Bowman is a phenomenal showman and performer. He really knows how to stir the crowds up in an absolute frenzy and he even did a little crowd surfing for the Boston crowd!
The icing on the cake is that they always wind up introducing opening bands that we, through them, discover how amazing THEIR music is as well. They're super approachable and very easy to talk to, so if you have an opportunity to see them in concert, spend the extra money and get VIP tickets. I promise you shant be disappointed.
Plus.... and I can't stress how cool this is.... but with VIP tickets and the wherewithal to arrive early, you're very likely to get the front row which is mindblowing in and of itself. If Bad Suns comes back around again, you can bet I'll be back as well.

Acerca De Bad Suns
Bad Suns are embracing everything that’s possible on their joyous fifth album, Accelerator. Together since 2012, Christo Bowman (vocals/guitar), Gavin Bennett (bass) and Miles Morris (drums) started playing as teenagers and went viral almost immediately with their magnetic blend of indie-rock and ‘80s synth sheen. After four hit albums, the trio reached a point where they needed to recalibrate and recenter if they wanted to continue. Recording their exuberant 2023 EP Infinite Joy was a cleansing experience that set them on a thrilling path forward into making Accelerator, which comprises 12 new tracks brimming with dance-pop hooks and poignant lessons learned.
In planning their latest project, the band reconnected with their go-to producer Eric Palmquist (Tate McRae, Half Alive), who also helmed their 2014 debut Language & Perspective, plus follow-ups Disappear Here (2016) and Apocalypse Whenever (2022). Going into recording Accelerator, Eric encouraged Bad Suns to channel their sense of renewal into an energetic sonic direction they’d tapped into before, but never quite to this extent. “One of the first times we sat down with Eric, we were talking about what we'd all been vibing with. He said point blank, ‘It would be really cool to mess around with some ‘90s house-inspired music. Right away, the light bulb went off for me. I'd wanted to push in that direction forever.”
The hook-packed gem “Slow Karma” acts as Christo’s mission statement for Accelerator. An intimate and cathartic track, the album opener finds Christo at a personal and professional crossroads as he confronts old habits and makes the decision to become sober. As Bad Suns move into their new era, one filled with exciting personal and professional milestones, they’ve never been more harmoniously aligned. “While making this album, I turned 30, I got married, I found out I was having a kid. Going to the studio every day and being in the room with the guys, I had this sense that I'm going to look back and know that was probably one of the best times of my life.”
