Tyler Reese - Fusion with aspects of Rock, Jazz, Blues and Funk
Tyler Reese is guitar virtuoso, performer, writer and producer. Born in Norfolk, VA June 3, 1993. Classical training on the piano starting at age 3. Studied guitar from age 10 and focused on jazz guitar from age 14. He won the National Guitar Workshop competition in April of 2011, and has participated in numerous showcase events and festivals, and played prestigious venues such as Paisley Park, the Dome at America's Center, the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Listening Room, Celebrate Virginia, Fontanel, Loretta Lynn’s Ranch, the IEBA, Tin Pan South, and the Friars in New York City. Tyler has been featured in publications (Downbeat, Vintage Guitar, JazzEd, Jazziz), radio shows (Planet Jazz, WJMX Smooth Jazz Boston Global Radio, the Pace Report), and was the "featured artist of the week" for Underground Artists Live out of New York. Tyler Reese released his first CD at the age of 15 in 2010. ”Risus21″, an exploration of progressive rock with dark, heavy riffs and a lot of high energy guitar. His second CD, “Because I Can”, in 2011, is a series of contemporary, arrangements of traditional jazz standards with aspects of funk, rock and blues. In September of 2013, Tyler released a single he wrote and produced featuring Kimberley Dahme (BOSTON) on vocals. Tyler’s third full length CD “Life in 20”, released in June 2014, was co-written and co-produced with Elisa Dease (Fiorillo), Prince back up singer and member of the NPG; also co-produced with Jeff Silverman (former touring and session guitarist for Rick Springfield). Tyler Reese has played lead guitar for numerous groups in the genres of country, rock, metal, pop, Americana, R/B, and jazz. Tyler has played with Craig Morgan, Billy Davis (Alabama, Rocket City), legendary bass player Gary Grainger (John Scofield, Acoustic Alchemy), Greg Grainger (Acoustic Alchemy), bassist Kevin Walker (Justin Timberlake, Prince), guitarist Ernie Isley (Isley Brothers), and has performed for artists such as Teddy Gentry of Alabama. Tyler has opened for Martin Sexton, Ron Holloway, Linwood Taylor, Bo Bice, and Scotty McCreery, and in August of 2012, studied in a masters clinic and personally with Pat Metheny. In July of 2014 after his 3rd CD with Dease, musical legend Prince took interest in Tyler flying him to to Paisley Park to meet and jam. Tyler attended the Berklee College of Music, and was a live musician in Nashville, TN from 2013 to 2016. He has currently relocated to the Washington DC area after the success of his 4th album, Reminiscence, and to pursue his passion and individual style for Fusion.
