Born in Cheraw, South Carolina, ThK.id has aspirations of reaching heights last seen by local legend Dizzy Gillespie. For ThK.id (also known by the birth name, Russ Wallace), growing up in Cheraw taught him that everything he wanted would take hard work and determination if he was to be noticed by his peers. Those same traits hold true to this very day with him. At the age of 2 Wallace moved to Tustin, California with his parents and would soon witness the struggles of two parents trying to make a living in a populated city. After numerous years in Tustin, Wallace's parents decided to return to South Carolina where they felt he would get the proper care and support needed to sustain a healthier lifestyle. It wouldn't be until Wallace entered high school that he would realize his gift for creative writing and his love for Hip-Hop. Soon after he was offered an opportunity to come to a studio and record when a few friends overheard him rapping. From that day forth, everything began to change. Formerly known in the area as "Phoenix" Wallace began to gain some attention and for him it was a rush. In the beginning he rapped about everything that he enjoyed and would cuss and degrade others, until he lost his grandmother to cancer. Wallace always saw how devout of a Christian his grandmother was and knew that if was going to make anything out of his life it would have to be through Jesus Christ. Shortly giving over his life to God, his music drastically changed and also improved. His writing ability became stronger, his ideas came with substance, and the people around him would come to see that things weren't the same anymore. Since giving his life to Christ, ThK.id has been nominated for Music Video of the Year by The Nashville Universe in Tennessee and has been offered a publishing deal with SESAC.inc. Most importantly though is that his life has found purpose, his leadership has grown. and his relationship with Christ has taken on a new everything. 2 Corinthians 5:17 - "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come".
