Charlie Dée is a Dutch singer-songwriter, born in Rotterdam, The Netherlands at the 22nd of August, 1977. She was born Renee van Dongen (which changed to Renee Vermijs-van Dongen when she got married), nowadays she uses her artist name.
She began writing and composing music at a young age. Later she studied at the Rotterdam Conservatory. In 2004 she won the "Grote Prijs van Nederland" (Great Price of The Netherlands) with the song If I Ever Knew, which tells the story of her brother leaving for a couple of months. She won in the category singer-songwriter. In 2006 she also won the "Essent Award", an award for starting, talented artists.
In 2006 her debut album Where Do Girls Come From was released in January. After that she toured The Netherlands for a couple of months, with a big exposure at the Lowlands Festival 2006.
