Superb and inspirational. Great program selection. Enjoyed also the interactive element with the public. Always good to hear the voice behind the instrument's own voice. Looking forward to the next concert.

Acerca De Ryan Drucker

Praised for his intelligent playing, formidable technique and powerful interpretations, Ryan Drucker is a Belgian-born concert pianist currently based in Manchester.

Ryan is currently completing the Artist’s Diploma course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Ronan O’Hora and Martin Roscoe. Upcoming engagements this year include Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No.3, Op.26 with the Guildhall Symphony Orchestra under Roberto González-Monjas at the Barbican Hall and Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.5 (‘Emperor’), Op.73 with the Southbank Sinfonia under Jeremy Summerly. Ryan will also be performing Beethoven’s “Hammerklavier” Sonata, Op.106 at the 2020 Dartington Festival.

Since performing at the Wigmore Hall at the age of sixteen, Ryan has played in many distinguished venues throughout the UK and abroad in Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Spain and Switzerland, as well as having a live performance broadcast on BBC Radio 3. Previously under the tutelage of Seta Tanyel and Helen Krizos, Ryan graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music with a first-class BMus (Hons) and was awarded the Alfred Clay Scholarship for achieving the highest mark in an undergraduate final recital. He also won the RNCM Concerto Competition, subsequently playing Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No.1 (Op.23) with the RNCM Symphony Orchestra in the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester.

In recent years, Ryan has received first prize in both Brant International Piano Competition and the piano category of the Tunbridge Wells International Young Concert Artists Competition, and was awarded the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship and the Carnwath Scholarship. Ryan was also a recipient of the Yehudi Menuhin English Speaking Union Scholarship, enabling him to attend the prestigious Piano Masterclass International Series at Banff Arts Centre in Canada. He has also studied alongside Michel Beroff, Jonathan Biss, Nelson Goerner, Richard Goode, Noriko Ogawa, Murray Perahia, Pascal Rogé and Kathryn Stott.

Alongside his solo successes, Ryan is an avid chamber musician and in recent years has collaborated with Nicholas Daniel, Philip Higham, Matthew Jones, Alice Neary, Krysia Osostowicz and Rohan de Saram. He is a member of the Johannes Piano Quartet and has a duo partnership with Akito Goto. He has received coaching from Julius Drake, Ralph Kirshbaum, and from members of the Castallian and Elias string quartets.

Ryan, a Boise Foundation Scholar 2017, is extremely grateful to the Haberdashers' Company, Help Musicians UK and The Musician's Company Carnwath Scholarship for supporting his studies.

Ryan is passionate about education and is a piano and chamber music tutor at Yorkshire Young Musicians at Leeds College of Music. He also teaches privately students of all ages. Away from the piano, Ryan loves to read and lives with his partner, Sarah, and his typically self-entitled cat, Nala.
