Tequila Mockingbyrd Biography

No lemon. No salt. No chaser.

Formed in Melbourne in 2012, Tequila Mockingbyrd are a shot of straight up rock n roll packing a high energy punch that will hit you from the first explosion of sound until long into the after-party. Honing their craft in the early days as a powerhouse punk rock trio in the pubs of Melbourne, Australia, Estelle Artois (lead vocals and guitar), Jess Reilly (bass and backing vocals), and Josie O’Toole (drums and backing vocals) played through blood, sweat, and beers to bring Tequila Mockingbyrd to the ears of music lovers not only in Melbourne, but all over Australia, notching up supports across the land with Aussie legends such as Baby Animals, Thirsty Merc and Twelve Foot Ninja as well as international artists such as Richie Ramone (The Ramones) and Cherie Currie (The Runaways).

At the end of 2015 the T‐Byrds spread their wings internationally for the first time, having the honour of visiting The Middle East on a Government-sponsored “Tour of Duty” to entertain the troops.

Their debut album “Fight and Flight” was self-released in May 2016 in Australia/NZ and debuted at No. 10 in the Australian AIR Charts. Debut single (and fragrance!) “I Smell Rock n Roll” was named Team Rock “Track of the Week” and earned the trio two month’s A-list airplay on the UK’s biggest rock station Planet Rock radio. It also scored the girls a coveted live studio performance on Australia’s leading commercial rock station Triple M.

Late 2016 saw the trio take to international stages once again, hitting the ground running with more than 40 shows across the UK and Europe including festival appearances at Hard Rock Hell and Planet Rockstock. They continued to build momentum in 2017 with two more UK/Euro tours to coincide with the international release of their debut album through Off Yer Rocka Recordings.

After five years of pure dedication to the band, Jess Reilly stepped out to pursue other endeavours. Enter bassist extraordinaire, Jacinta Jaye, who hit the ground running with an Aussie tour supporting the likes of The Darkness and Nashville Pussy. Later in 2017, Estelle left the band to pursue other musical ventures, leaving huge boots to be filled. Enter Louisa Baker who stepped in at short notice and blitzed the 2017 and 2018 UK and Europe summer tours, playing headline shows as well as appearing at festivals such as Stonefree, Steelhouse, Rock N Blues, and Amplified and sharing line-ups with the likes of Richie Blackmore’s Rainbow, Blue Oyster Cult, Steve Harris’s British Lion, and more.

After parting ways with Louisa in late 2018, a new chapter now begins for the T-Byrds. Standby for BIG news coming very soon! Look out world; these Byrds cannot be caged!

“That is incredible; those girls are so talented...” ‐ Lzzy Hale, Halestorm

“Feisty as fuck and hugely entertaining” - Classic Rock Magazine, UK

“This is just fantastic” ‐ Darren Redick, Planet Rock Radio
