About BrightSideMusic

BrightSideMusic is an acoustic/electric project created by singer/song-writer Alejo Izaguirre along with the collaboration of friends and machinery. The project originally started out in Modesto, CA in the year 2004 under the simple name of “Alejo” this was made up of simply a voice and an acoustic guitar found at the bottom of a friend’s closet and purchased for fifty dollars. Under that line-up “Alejo” recorded a three-song demo at a classmate’s home-studio, called “Piggy-Banks & Captain-Logs” (http://www.purevolume.com/alejo). “Alejo..s” first presentation was as the opening act for the 2005 Modesto Arts & Wine Festival sponsored by the Gallo center, as well as some impromptu performances for friends. Later on in 2005 some of the TBSOS songs like “Lindsey” and “JUAN (Jokingly, Uninspired at Night” were performed by Painfully Obvious. (http://purevolume.com/painfullyobvious).

In 2006 I moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina and started playing some of the songs along with Pablo Benzo (Drums) and David Maruchkian (Bass) under the name “Dauphin” (http://www.purevolume.com/dauphin). This new line-up lasted a few months and it was only able to record a acoustic-guitar and vocals two-song demo at a local city radio known as the “2x4” or “Centro cultural San Martin” unfortunately the line-up would dissolve later on. Then in November of that same year I played the first show under the The Bright Side Of Suicide name at a bar in Buenos Aires called Planta Alta. After that came a period in which things slowed down and there were no more performances until June of 2008. A new bar in Almagro, Buenos Aires opened up and I was hosting every other Wednesday while bringing another acoustic act to play the bill. Sharing the stage with bands like Second Hand and Diego Zavatarelli. During this time I began playing along-side Martin Zambrano (Alegoria, EnUnCirculo) and we would later form “Bridges & Knights” (http://bridgesandknights.bandcamp.com). After two months the bar got locked-down and I found myself with nowhere to play and since Bridges & Knights was getting more and more serious and started recording a demo and playing some venues, there came another time of absence which lasted up until February of 2010.

This time I decided to step back into the Studio to finally get all those songs played throughout years and have the creation come to life. With the help of Fernando Zuccarelli (Aspek) in the production, TBSOS started recording its first official demo at Aspek Studios with the collaboration of Alejandra Moyano (Vox), Eric Desimone (Guitars) and Martin Zambrano (Guitars/Banjo). The artwork was assigned to an up-and-coming artist from Moreno, Buenos Aires called Guillermo Pacello and the demo would be available soon after that. However fate stepped in and for one reason or another the production process never took off.

In October of 2011 I relocates to Modesto, CA and continued production of the songs independently. A few months later, in 2012 I released "It's Alive", the artwork for which ended up being a collection of sketches and drawings that best represented the songs.

At the moment, I am working on another four song EP along long-time friend Robert Dickson, and as soon as it is available I will publish it. I am also always looking to play shows with awesome bands, so let's set something up!

For now enjoy the first single from "It's Alive" titled "Lindsey", a visual representation in the form of a self-recorded, edited, and produced musical video.

Also you can enjoy some videos of the most recent and old shows from, as well as some home recordings of the songs that will be on the demos, so you can (if at all interested) see how the songs have evolved. To check those out visit the links below:
