About Buckman Coe

Buckman Coe is an explorer of Americana, Soul, and World Music. Over 5 albums he has defied boundaries and followed his muse to create a distinct and evolving sound. Inspired by artists who deliver messages of social justice, humanity, and love, Coe balances his song-writing with truth-saying, playfulness, and romance with songs that break open hearts and make people dance on hot summer nights. Although from the Pacific Northwest there is often a Island-vibe to his music due to time spent at his second-home of Hawaii and frequent visits to his ancestral home of Taiwan.

In 2018 and 2019, Coe has two albums to offer the world. 'Gathering Storm' (Feb 2019) is a horn-infused Soul & Reggae album reflective of the uplifting, high-energy big band sound he prefers to bring on tour and to festivals around the world. The first single and title-track will be released in October preceding a tour of his home of British Columbia.

'Altar' (April 2018) was released for fans of his acoustic folk and soul roots, as well as give expression to his writing inspired by nature, frontline communities, and all those working to protect the environment for future generations.

Over the past 7 years of touring Canada, USA, Hawaii, Australia, Indonesia, and Taiwan, Buckman Coe has established a reputation for dance-floor oriented Roots Rock Reggae and Soul. At the same time, he has remained engaged in social and ecological justice movements at home and abroad. His regards his work as an artist as delivering messages of hope and love encouraging joy, action, and dancing while facilitating the building bridges between communities.

What Folks are Saying:

“If you enjoy the laid-back likes of Ben Harper and Jack Johnson, odds are good that you’re going to love this unrelentingly positive, completely accomplished triumph" – Georgia Straight (Vancouver Newspaper)

“If this were 1973, back when singer-songwriters ruled the earth, with a couple of breaks and a bit of AM radio airplay, he’d be busy chasing gold-record royalty cheques and house-hunting in Laurel Canyon” – Mike Usinger (Music Journalist)

"Malama Ka ‘Aina is a danceable album filled with positive vibes, delivers its strength through the albums ability to thematically bridge participation in civil society and celebrate life, love, and humanity" - Tone Deaf (Music Journal)
