It's really hard for me not to put 5 stars, but I feel like I don't have enough experience with these kinds of shows to do so. All of the bands were great and interacted with the crowd a lot. The venue required the crowd, who basically filled the entire venue, to get "cozy," which allowed energy to flow throughout the entire place. I'd definitely head back to the Smiling Moose for more shows, and I'm hoping to catch more performances by all of the bands who played if/when they come back through Pittsburgh. (The picture I included is of me and one of the guitarists from Weatherbox, Shane Moylan)

Weatherbox Biography

Doghouse Records has a history of discovering and bringing to light the next “sound” in alternative / progressive rock, and Weatherbox is the most recent testament to the independent label’s insight…eliciting a much needed innovation in music and passion in its results.

Weatherbox is an indie rock band from San Diego, California, led by ex-Mister Valentine & My American Heart member, Brian Warren. Other members of the band include George Pritzker (from Japandi), drummer, Cory Stier (ex-Pistolita), and bassist, Dave Silverman (ex-Pistolita).

Upon listening to their EP release due this fall [November 7th on Doghouse] you may ask yourself how a group of southern Cali friends came up with lyrics that conjure a fantastic alternate reality that many can only achieve with hallucinogens…and the truth is, we don’t really know and may just have to wait till the band’s full length debut (Due in early 2007).

As with southern Californian mornings when the fog recedes from the beach to show a glistening shoreline, The Clearing [not so] quietly shines through the clutter of today’s rock music (much in the same way that Doghouse alumni, Say Anything, have done). In the epic words of Weatherbox frontman, Brian Warren, “That’s legit.”
