Torn Beloved Biography

Hailing from the Nation’s Capital, Torn Beloved is a female fronted rock quartet, blending elements of modern day rock with a hint of 90’s grunge. “From the beginning, it was always about creating and capturing pure, raw emotion in our songs” say’s lead singer/rhythm guitarist Josee Martel. Her unique vocals soar over the pounding rhythm and energy that her band mates bring to the forefront. Amaury Lavoine (lead guitar), Frank Vee (Bass/back vocals) and Greg Hanson (drums) bring on the musical rain, delivering with their front woman, a stacked deck of driven melodies and vicious hooks. The band began in early 2011, honing their sound and preparing to unleash TB to the masses. They built up momentum playing any and every stage they could find themselves on, garnering quite the fan base in Ottawa and surrounding areas. With their energetic and compelling live shows, they've turned spectators into fans and fans into passionate die-hards. Since their first show in 2012, TB have played some of the key venues in Ottawa: Zaphod's, Maverick's, Cafe Dekcuf, Greenfield's pub, and Brass Monkey. Some more than once. They've even reached out to some of the surrounding cities: Oshawa, Renfrew, Cornwall; and are going to extend that reach even further in 2015. 2013 was pretty busy for the band, playing as many shows as possible, and all the while recording their debut EP at 'SoundCreation Studio', with producer Scott Walsh. On September 27, after alot of hard work, the EP finally became a reality. Released to a sold out packed house at Cafe Dekcuf. Of course, they couldn't have done this without the help of their fans, who donated their hard earned cash via the band's GoFundMe compaign. 2014 was an interesting year. They played a few shows, 2 were highlights and very exciting for the band: Jan 31, 2014 opening for The Standstills out of Oshawa and Oct. 24, 2014 opening for The Trews, both at Maverick's. They also saw some line up changes: Joel Falardeau and Chad Spaz left the band to focus on family and other commitments. Shortly after Joel left they found their new bassist, Amaury Lavoine. He was introduced to fans at their Aug. 8 show at Zaphod's opening for The Powergoats. Amaury has been a valued addition to the band, and not just with his musicianship, but what he as offered behind the scenes: web design, music production, etc... After Chad exited the band, they were left to find a new guitarist to fill his shoes - not an easy task. However, after some discussion, it was decided that Amaury would take on lead guitar responsibility. Of course, now they needed a bassist; bring in Frank 'Vee' Villeneuve. They worked with Frank before, and have seen him with Tomorrow's Crisis, so they knew the fit was perfect. Frank impressed them since day one. And with the added bonus of his vocal ability, things are complete... and sounding great. The ideas Frank and Amaury are bringing to the table should add more flare to the Torn Beloved sound. And they are already spitting out new material. New material means? New things are coming in 2015!!! In the meantime, visit the band's Youtube channel and watch the videos for their first 2 singles off their debut EP, Chosen One and Dance For Me, directed and produced by the amazing Kim Vincent of Ravenstone Productions.
