Recursion

Hailing from Portland, Oregon, newcomers Recursion are blazing their path to the stage with a hot batch of fresh metalcore. Not content to stay stagnant in the cut-and-dry metal scene, the trio fuses metalcore, djent mathcore beats, screamo, and even jazz into a fresh, raw sound that is turning heads and locking in listeners. Under the lead of guitarist Nick Durheim, who provides the band's signature guitar work, Recursion solidified its sound by bringing Maxwell Montgomery on as vocalist and Alec Yoshizumi as percussionist. Recursion honed its sound playing at a variety of stages throughout the Oregon and Washington area, throughout a gauntlet of shows including opening for Upon A Buring Body, a Battle of the Bands, and local bands' Aleen and How The West Was Won CD release shows, members of the band met new influences and gained great insight into building a clean, precise live show. Influenced by bands such as Periphery, August Burns Read, and Veil of Maya, the guys at Recursion continue to push the fold of metalcore to the breaking point, creating a signature sound through odd time signatures, experimental guitar, abd an affluence for throwing jazz into the mix.
