Moreor

At fall 2010, what was about to become Moreor was born in the west of France. Taking influences from an extremely large array of music like metal, classical, rock, goth, ambient, folk, cold wave, electronics, experimental, and so on, the group dedicated its energy to assimilate all those styles and get something new out of the cauldron. In the age when most female-fronted metal bands seem to sound like pop with heavy guitars, Moreor has the ambition to bring something new to the table by putting the emphasis on atmosphere, seeking that spell bounding feeling beneath the music. During the following years, the band went threw the usual lineup changes, having unsurprising troubles to find the right individuals to serve such a natural and noble yet ambitious project. From the original form of the band, only Eadha, the opera singer with a deep and ethereal voice and Morzoll, the heartbeat behind the drums, remain. Today, Ludwig, Anaon and Zlh add their craftsmanship to the core, making Moreor able to perform live. Bathed in shadows yet bright and epic, down-tempo yet intense, each song is an opportunity for the band to take you away to a dark fairytale. Whoever enters the labyrinth named Moreor will certainly find another world around the corner, like another twisted dimension hiding in the corner of your eye. When and at what cost will you get out ? This is up to you. ------------- Released in September 2013 and recorded partly in France and New York City, the EP “From North, From Sea” is a prequel to the Moreor saga. It contains 5 tracks for 33 minutes of haunting music. It features a 4-page booklet with an artwork designed by NYC's Art Noir Studio. A l’automne 2010, le projet Moreor voit le jour sous la forme d’un trio : Eadha au chant, Moloc’h à la guitare et Morzoll à la batterie. Rapidement, un son bien caractéristique émerge, mêlant des guitares lourdes et puissantes, une batterie martiale et un chant lyrique et aérien. Après plusieurs essais, Moreor trouve son instrumentaliste de la basse 6 cordes en mars 2012 : ce sera Zlh, fraîchement revenu de Brooklyn (New-York) avec lequel Eadha et Morzoll ont déjà travaillé lors d’un autre projet musical. A l’automne 2012, Arwald, guitariste et Ludwig, bassiste rejoignent le line-up suite au départ de Zlh pour New-York et au départ de Moloc’h… En juin 2013, Anaon, guitariste et flutiste, vient compléter le line-up apportant une coloration pagan à l’univers du groupe. Finalement, en septembre 2013, Zlh, de retour en France, rejoint le combo aux claviers. Depuis mai 2013, le groupe se concentre sur les prestations live : Art Rock off à Saint Brieuc, grande scène de la fête de la musique à Dinan, première partie de Darwin, 6:33, Kells… Musicalement, Moreor forge un répertoire original, savant mélange de riffs abyssaux et acérés, d’arpèges atmosphériques et de chant lyrique sur fond de prose inspirée d’un univers héroïc-fantasy. Le combo n’hésite pas à explorer des sonorités diverses, doom, black metal en travaillant sa texture sonore au delà du simple son ''metal''. Le Dark metal de Moreor évoque les étendues glacées du nord mais aussi le souffle brulant du dragon. Le chant lyrique d’Eadha participe à cet univers : aux notes graves et profondes s’ajoutent des notes aériennes évoquant des aurores boréales. Qui pénètre dans le labyrinthe obscur de Moreor ignore quand, comment et en quel lieu il en ressortira, de nombreuses surprises l’attendant au détour du chemin… En septembre 2013, parait le premier EP 5 titres du groupe, "From North, From Sea", disponible en ligne et lors des prestations live.
