American Mustache Biography

American Mustache is a punk band from Detroit, MI that began in 2008. Longtime jammin' pals Kyle Cook (drums) and Nick Altadonna (guitar) collaborated to come up with the bands first single "The One" which got it's name solely because it was the one jam the duo always fell back on. It was shortly after when Eddie DeMent jumped in on Bass and Jeff Mogle was asked to write lyrics, when he took the role as the bands vocalist. The four went on to write songs and play covers and called themselves The King's Villains, (referring to the street Kyle lived on) but settled on the name Murdock before their first basement show. It wasn't until later that American Mustache was adopted as the bands official name which transcended from the phrase "It'll Grow on Ya". In late 2009 the band took a hiatus when guitarist Nick Altadonna took on a job and moved to Florida. Although he never officially left the band, the remaining members decided they wanted to re-group and play shows when guitarist Chris Blasco stepped in to fill the void in mid 2011. The four played local bar gigs around the Detroit area until Chris left the band in 2012. While the band was in search of another guitarist, Nick still kept his ties with American Mustache but shifted his main focus to study Audio Engineering while living in Florida. In the spring of 2012 guitarist Aaron Hoepner brought his creativity to the band, contributing to the bands modern day sound. American Mustache went on to record their first E.P. in May 2013 that included all of the original members with the addition of Aaron on guitar. The E.P. was recorded and mixed by Nick and friend DJ Ray. Thereafter the band consisted of two guitarist while Eddie DeMent decided to take a leave and was replaced by Douche And The Bags Bassist Shannon Montgomery.
