Music from Motley to Merle After just a few lines of “Brown Bag Flu,” you know Brian Dennison’s music will keep your feet tappin’ and bar stool swiveling. Dennison’s infectious blend of country rock brings to mind many of today’s contemporary country artists, but with an irreverent and self-deprecating attitude. Dennison grew up in the South End of Peoria, an area known for its rough-and-tumble attitude and streetwise swagger. Like Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash before him, Dennison sings about the gritty and glorious times of his life in equal measure, and in the words of everyman. Audiences respond because they know this man and this music as clearly as they know themselves. And Dennison gets that connection: “The feeling I get when someone requests a song I’ve written…the look on that person’s face when they’re listening to and feeling my music…there’s nothing better than that.” Dennison’s CD, “Southend Celebrity,” had a limited release in June 2013 and is being re-released by Dark River studios in Peoria this spring.
