Bright Moments

Bright Moments is the solo project of Kelly Pratt, in-demand brass and wind player for bands such as Beirut, Arcade Fire and David Byrne/St.Vincent. Pratt had previously stepped out as leader of Team B, but life on the road restricted recording to whatever he could accomplish on a laptop in his hotel room between shows. Wanting to create at his own pace and without the other limitations of a tour schedule, he formed Bright Moments and by winter 2010 began recording track-by-track by himself in his Brooklyn apartment, later recruiting his musician friends from Beirut, Akoya Afrobeat and Spoon to help flesh out the sound and assist with the production. The result was Natives, a sprawling record that synthesized the diversity of his musical résumé and arrived in February 2012 for the Luaka Bop label. brightmomentsmusic@gmail.com
