Grand Circus Biography

We’ve been hearing the phrase “rock is dead” since The Who first uttered it in 1974. In the early 2000’s the national music scene was being dominated by pop rock and R & B. In Detroit, however, four talented veteran musicians came together in an effort to keep rock and roll alive – even if only for their own friends and family. Grand Circus was born and almost immediately released their first studio album – the self-titled “Grand Circus”. The record was not only an instant hit among the “Circus Freaks” who listened to it and bought it, it also made waves throughout the Motor City music reviewers: "Grand Circus blurs the lines dividing genres...a polished band capable of handling any style, wearing their funk, fusion, rock and punk influences well!” -- Jam Rag, September, 2002. After countless shows and sharing the local stages with many different national acts, Grand Circus went back into the studio. The result was their second release, the 2006 record, “Follow”. Once again Grand Circus received critical acclaim locally: “This album is awesome from a local Detroit band just about ready to hit the national stage. The song “Hero” is destined to be played for a long time on ESPN and stadiums across country. Are we not all “looking for a hero”….If you like any Detroit rock you will like this. Seger, Kid Rock, and some heavy riffs mixed together. Dig it, put your hands up for Detroit!” -- Dr. Detroit, July 2007 “This is a fantastic showing from this group. Their live performances live up to all that this album provides. Check out Overthrow for an amazing journey through a tempo changing thrill ride, or In Command or Follow for a gritty rock sound and message, or Souls Denied for a rockadelic mind trip” -- Detroit Music Review, January, 2009 The Grand Circus phenomenon was growing and their group of loyal followers grew right along with them! The “Circus Freaks” worked hard to promote the band’s message of fun over boredom, head banging over head rests and most importantly to live life to the fullest! The demand for more new music was evident. Grand Circus headed back into the studio to churn out their third record affectionately titled “Circus Maximus” which translates from Latin simply into “Great Circus”. Grand Circus expanded their horizons in 2013 by hiring a new manager and booking agent. They have reached out and made new fans worldwide via social media outlets and internet radio stations. The new recording studio has been built and is ready for Grand Circus to create a new record. Now is the time, the time is now. Run away and join the Circus!
