Pilot For A Day

Pilot For A Day is an American pop-rock band formed in November, 2010 in Kansas City, Kansas. The band is composed of members Nolan Smith (vocals, guitar), Craig Harper (drums, vocals), Brandon Rimmey (guitar), and Harry Datkowitz (bass). Influenced by bands such as Mayday Parade, Boys Like Girls, Cartel, The Maine, and Go Radio, the band set out to make a hard hitting, yet uplifting album that would be easy to relate to. The inspiration behind the music would come from a wide range of ideas including living life to its fullest extent, knowing that anything you can imagine is possible, as well as the gratitude the band wished to express for the tremendous support of family and friends. In February, 2012, Pilot For A Day teamed up with producer Marc McClusky (William Beckett, Ludo, Hit the Lights) to record their debut album “Better Air”. Going into the studio, Pilot For A Day had composed 27 songs with the intent to pick and choose from the best ideas to create 10 classic, yet modern songs that could be appreciated by anyone they would have the opportunity to play for. While creating the album, the band had the pleasure of working with Andrew Volpe (Ludo) on a co-written song called “Extraordinary Life”. The band also worked with drummer Cory Muro (Badboxes, Punchline, The Composure) during the recording process. Pilot For A Day’s current drummer, Craig Harper, joined the band a few months before the release of “Better Air”. Pilot For A Day released their debut album "Better Air" in January, 2013. The band hosted the album’s release at The Granada Theater in Lawrence, KS on January 26, 2013. In July, 2014, the band is set to release “Better Air - Deluxe Edition” (a re-release of the band’s debut album with added acoustic performances).
