About this concert
Be The Bear are playing a small gig in Stockholm on the 7th of May, for the release of Lars Berges new book "Norrländsk Fauna". We will be playing on a bus (RättBuss) with room for 50 people and a bar, driving through our gorgeous capitol during sunset. There will also be an exhibition with the amazing works of Martin Ander (illustrator for Fever Ray). Do not miss this!In stead of being all 5 of us on stage, it will just be me (vox, loop pedal) and Karin Bengtsson (launchpad, synth, laptop). Be The Bear Biography
Be The Bear is the nom de plume of Swedish artist and producer Christina Wehage, writing and recording in her commercial studio in Gothenburg, home to the artists' record label Loud Attic Records. Her debut single 'Erupt' was featured in an international TV commercial for Volvo, with over a million views on Youtube and climbed the iTunes charts in Sweden. Her two following singles, 'I Don't Want To' and 'Ruler' (dance collab with GOLDHOUSE) were both added to Spotify's highly-coveted New Music Friday. Her new single 'Mermaid' is out May 31.
The alias Be The Bear derives from Wehage’s childhood fear of bears and recurring cold-sweat nightmares. “I used to dream about them every night, chasing me up old wooden staircases. When dreams come back again and again, I think it's because you’re trying to deal with something. I wasn't facing my fears and challenging myself”. Christina adopted the totem of the wild bear, creating a powerful musical persona for herself.
