Shar Carillo

Shar Carillo, originally from Kauai, is the proud daughter of local musicians Loke Sasil of Leahi and Sean Carillo. Growing up in a musically talented family Shar Carillo learned to dance tahitian and hula. By the age of 6 she was competing in tahitian dance competitions and dancing hula while her mom sang at luau’s and shows for island visitors. She learned to play the ukulele at the age of 8 and later guitar but it wasn’t until her senior year in high school when she began to sing publicly and thus recorded her first single. She took a break from music to concentrate on college. After graduating from the University of Hawaii Shar began playing solo gigs and then eventually put a band together. She released her first EP, titled “Letting Go”, in 2012. The following year she released a single, titled “One of These Days”, which made it to number one on KCCN FM100.
