We are excited to announce the first Community for a Cure Music Festival at Woodlands Backyard on Saturday, May 17th, at 1 PM. Join us in a celebration of life, love, creative energy and music, with 9 bands sharing the same stage and single cause!Bar and merchandise sales will be donated to the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital. Donations will be taken at the door as well.Love Hope Strength will be on site at the venue swabbing potential donors for the National Bone Marrow Registry. In May of 2012 I received a life saving bone marrow transplant at the James Cancer Center at The Ohio State University, after a long and hard fought battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. It is due to the tireless efforts and incredible work of the doctors and staff at the James that I am able to live a happy and healthy life today. As my treatment needs wind down at the James, I have become increasingly committed to giving back to the medical community that has given so much to myself as well as many others, and it has become my great desire to do so through one of my biggest passions, live music. For, in my darkest moments of my own journey, music is what pulled my spirits high enough to fight.My goal with Community for a Cure is to bring Columbus together with an event celebrating life, love, creative energy and music; all to benefit this priceless resource that we have in our backyard. Columbus is a place that I am proud to call home and a city that has an incredible ability to come together to do great things; it is my dream that Community for a Cure will become one of them. So with this letter I extend to you my hopes that you will join us in doing something bigger than ourselves.
