Grand Café Biography

Grand Café is a rock band from Oslo, Norway. Formed in 2001 by Christer Krogh (vocals / guitars) and Kenneth Sandberg (bass / vocals). Grand Café started out as a massive three-piece band heavily influenced by the late sixties Detroit rock scene. This resulted in the critically acclaimed EP 'Rock & Roll Revolution' (2002). The following years consisted of excessive touring including special guest performances with Alice Cooper, Turbonegro, Atomic Swing etc. Grand Café also contributed on the Ramones Tribute 'Leaving Home' (Ignorance is Bliss) and 'A Scandinavian Tribute to Roky Erickson' (Alien I Creator). 'Put A Little Grease On My Axe' is Grand Cafés first full-length album. It was released in October 2008. By now the line-up was changed. Grand Café now included a ferocious Hammond B3 organ, played by Didrik Lund. This feelgood boogie/soul album turned people on to Grand Café in Scandinavia as well as the rest of Europe. The following tour also included a new drummer, Thomas Pytterud Li. This handsome foursome is now by far the most rocking and groovy Norwegian outfit. With hits like 'Leave This Town' and 'Take What You Want' numerous radio stations lists Grand Café. The soul influenced 7 inch vinyl single 'Let Loose' is released in the wake of ' Put A Little Grease On My Axe' This single also received fantastic reviews. In the summer of 2009, Grand Café returned to the studio to write and record songs for their EP 'Million Miles Away' and their next album 'Elm Tree Gardens'. Together with producer Lars Volsdal, the band generated a whole new sound. The band now presented a much darker landscape than before. Critically aclaimed EP 'Million Miles Away' was released November 2011 on white vinyl. Followed by a support gig for THE Deep Purple ("Give'em hell guys" Roger Glover told the band before entering stage), and touring UK, Germany, Sweden and Norway. Their second full lenght album ' Elm Tree Gardens' was released April 26th 2013, followed by great reviews and a tour in Norway. On stage this is the band you want to put on repeat. With screaming but stern guitar, a thunderbolt percussions artillery and the playful, heavy bass that hits you right in the gut. In addition you'll have four male singing voices that takes you on a journey through joy and sorrow. Their latest single 'Tonight' was released right before Christmas 2013 as a Christmas-thank-you-for-a-successful-2013-gift to their fans. While touring Norway in fall of 2013 and early 2014, the band started writing new material for their next album. It will probably get a lighter wibe than their previous 'Elm Tree Gardens' and be of a certain extent inspired by Californian music. NEW SINGLE "I NEED YOU" ! OUT MARCH 24TH ON ALL STREAMING SERVICES. NEW ALBUM IN THE MAKING. RELEASEDATE; FALL 2017
