Invisible Lines Biography

Formed in 2007, Invisible Lines has worked diligently to build a dedicated fan base and receive praise-filled music reviews from respected resources, setting the foundation for their steady upward movement and enduring musical energy. Drawing from influences including At The Drive-In, Fugazi, and Led Zeppelin, Invisible Lines is a melodic rock band that re-creates the dynamic and danceable rhythms of post punk. Invisible Lines is composed of William Acevedo (Guitar/ Vocals), Mike Clifford (Bass/Vocals), Alan Gomez (Lead Guitar), Josh Thompson (Rhythm Guitar) and Lucas Gonzalez (Drums). Their sound is as eclectic as their demographics; William, Mike, and Josh grew up in New Jersey, while Lucas and Alan relocated to the US from South America. In 2010, Invisible Lines released their five-song EP, “Wise Up!”. The diverse and creative pulse of the “Wise Up!” EP includes the original sounds and lyrics of “Painmaker”, “Medulla”, “Clean Up the Mess”, “2 Stops 1” and “Release”. Respected music resource, Jersey Beat, described the release as, “music that is a relentless rush of rhythm and melody that is simultaneously pulverizing and delicate.” Later in 2010, Jersey Beat chose “Wise Up!” for their music blog’s “The Best of 2010,” adding it to the list of “Best Singles and EPs.” The EP also made Rutgers radio’s Top 200 of 2010, coming in at #21. As Invisible Lines travels up and down NJ and makes appearances in NYC venues such as The Bowery Ballroom and Webster Hall, the band continues to emanate an energy that was accurately explained by NJ Underground after seeing their sold out show at the legendary Hoboken music venue, Maxwell’s: “Invisible Lines kept the crowd bouncing and singing along with their sometimes sweet and always savory pop-punk songs.” A typical set is comprised of a mix of old and new songs, some of which include: “Apollo in Her Eyes”, “Guanania”, “The Breach”, “Thought to Catch”, “Lock your Lips”, “Weak in the Knees” and their five EP tunes from “Wise Up!” When the band is off stage, they’re working relentlessly in the studio writing new music, revisiting old songs and hashing out the details of upcoming shows and other band-related business. The studio is Invisible Lines’ Mecca for musical and lyrical inspiration as well as deep conversations about life, politics and the world. One conversation in particular led to the band’s name, “Invisible Lines” after a long discussion between Mike and William on various aspects of American culture, immigration and geopolitical boundaries. At the end of the conversation the sentiment was “isn’t it unbelievable that all these invisible lines shape our lives?” After a brief pause for reflection on the phrase “invisible lines”, Mike suggested that it might be a good name for the band. William responded quickly, “DONE, that’s it, that’s the band.” In addition to launching a brand new band website in 2011, the group is set to debut two music videos and of course, new songs. Invisible Lines aims to influence the music world with their fresh spin on melodic rock and their focus on meaningful and poetic lyrics; a future that looks promising for this rising NJ rock band. Invisible Lines is a melodic rock band that re-creates the intensely dynamic and danceable rhythms of post-punk. J
