Kaleidostars Biography

Fronted by tattooed blonde rocker Lindsay Manfredi, American rock outfit, Kaleidostars, delivers powerful hooks, punk energy, and a glam rock swagger with aspirations to move audiences with a bold, ambitious, and inspired sound. A little indie, a whole lotta rock – this is the sound of 2014. In some ways, Lindsay Manfredi is a throwback to a 90s riot grrrl: a fearless, confident, and brainy feminist who is actively engaged in social causes (e.g., Lindsay is one of the co-founders of Girls Rock Indy!, a nonprofit rock camp for teenage girls). Lindsay's voice can be juxtaposed from gritty and raw to sweet and melodic sometimes within the same song. Lindsay is also a gifted lyricist with a lot on her mind, co-penning songs with band mates Eric Klee Johnson and Marc Johnson, that seek to connect with people experiencing their own love, hope, sex, and dreams. Kaleidostars formed from the ashes of Neon Love Life, an all-female band Lindsay fronted that called it quits when its guitarist was accepted to Yale. Lindsay met future her future band mates at The Pop Machine recording studios in Indianapolis where Eric and Marc produced a Neon Love Life track for ‘Forevermind’, a tribute record commemorating the 20th anniversary of Nirvana’s Nevermind. The Johnson-Manfredi-Johnson collaboration was a success scoring over 70,000 downloads. “It was natural for us to work together”, said Eric. “We have common musical sensibilities and an insatiable drive to make timeless, not timely, music”. The prolific writing team has assembled a set of fresh, imaginative, and visceral songs to be heard for the first time on the 5-song debut EP. Kaleidostars recruited drummer Brian Fields, an accomplished session and touring musician with whom the Johnsons worked on a Jane Jensen album. Eric and Marc last collaborated in the paisley underground band, Wonderdrug. Eric and Marc are GRAMMY-nominated record producers and mix engineers who have worked with the Airborne Toxic Event, The Cold Stares, Tokyo Police Club, and John Waite oversee the recording of K-Stars’ music. Marc Johnson is a guitar phenom who paints Kaleidostars sound with an iconic sonic color crafting muscular riffs and lush landscapes worthy of Mick Ronson, Johnny Marr, and Jimmy Page comparisons. Bassist Eric Klee Johnson and drummer Brian Fields interlock to provide a sturdy sonic foundation that is sometimes groovy, sometimes straight-ahead, but always powerful. Kaleidostars released its debut self-titled EP in March 2014 on Indie 500 Records that features the single “Phenomenal”. The EP is a precursor to a full-length release due in the summer of 2014. Kaleidostars will tour in support of both releases building upon its reputation as a well-oiled live act that has seen the band perform both as a headliner and in support of such as acts as Ash, Girl in a Coma, Goo Goo Dolls, Matchbox 20, Neon Trees, Sleeper Agent, and Walk The Moon and on music festivals like WRZX X103’s May Day, Upland Oktoberfest, and Warm Fest. Kaleidostars (Indie 500 Records) is available for digital download on iTunes, Bandcamp, and ReverbNation, and streamed online at Sonic Bids, SoundCloud, and Spotify. Kaleidostars delivers infectious hooks, visceral punk energy, and a glam rock swagger with a bold ambition to move audiences worldwide. Debut EP out now.
