Mac Russ

In 2007, Mac picked up a guitar and hasn't put it down since. He started off singing and playing the psychedelic rock and folk music of the 1960's and 70's. A year later in 2008, Mac began writing his own music as a means of self-expression. Through music, he discovered how to speak his mind by putting his words into what he played; he could say what he wanted to say. He refers to his early music as "angsty" which he rarely played for an audience. Mac played his first show at the age of 16 and has since played numerous gigs ranging from a church hall in midtown to Sacramento's Zuhg Fest. He started out playing the dinner rush at restaurants and filling in open spots at open-mic nights. Soon, weddings weren't complete without him and office gatherings became parties when he walked in with his guitar. His music grew into a raw blend of blues and folk-rock fueled by true passion for his art.
