Doug Bruce & The Tailgaters

2017 and 2014 Toyota Golden Guitar Male Artist of the Year finalist Doug Bruce performs country music with authenticity and passion. Since moving to Australia 12 years ago, Texan expat Doug has brought the authentic sound and feel of the Texas honky tonks to Australia. Honing his craft as a singer-songwriter over two decades, Doug is also an accomplished producer at Shoo Fly Studios. He has self-produce all five of his commercially released albums to date. Doug's last two singles produced two from two #1 hits (The Tears, Bad Weather) on radio and on CMC (The Tears). His previous hits also include Somewhere Better To Be, Broke Down Heart, Clock Out At Five, Made That Way, Thank God I'm a Cowboy, Coffey Road, Honky Tonk Shoes, Sweet, and Close Enough (duet with Amber Joy Poulton). Doug has been honoured with several award nominations in the last few years, including Best Male Artist, Best Single and Best Album at the Southern Stars Independent Country Music Awards in 2013, and Best Male Artist and Best Album again in 2015, Best Country Album at the prestigious The Age - Music Victoria Genre Award, as well as nominations in the Country Music Channel Awards, ( Male Oz artist and Best Oz Artist), for the third year running. Doug and his band have graced the bill of all the big-ticket shows, including CMC Rocks the Hunter, CMC Rocks North QLD, Gympie Music Muster, the Deni Ute Muster, Mud Bulls & Music, Crusin’ Country cruise, plus many more, illustrating the respect and affection audiences and the industry alike have for this artist. Recently described as ‘the love child of America and Australia’, in recognition of Doug’s Texas origin and his adopted country, it seems audiences can’t get enough of the authentic, honky tonkin’ country Doug and his band keep serving up. In April 2014 Doug made his honorary Aussie status official, when he made his Pledge of Commitment in Bendigo, Victoria, and became an Australian citizen.
