Double Dubbs Biography
Double Dubbs is an acoustic-electric band with songwriting influenced by Roots Rock, Blues, and American Folk Music. Founded by brothers Alex and Keith White, the band also includes guitarist Nick Clutter and percussionist Dan Smrz, and can swell to as many as 5 members, utilizing acoustic and electric guitars, bass, percussion and mandolin. Their new original sound engages the audience and invites them to sing along and take part in the next song being written. A founding member of the well-established Roots Rock band Elf Lettuce since 2003, guitarist/vocalist Alex White has toured extensively throughout the Midwest, performing at major events like Summerfest and the 10,000 Lakes Festival. Alex spent a year opening for James Brown's "Funky" drummer, Clyde Stubblefield at his weekly residency in downtown Madison. Continuing the tradition of Clyde's "Funky Mondays," Alex has maintained a residency at downtown Madison venues on Monday nights for 4+ years running. Double W draws influence from the likes of John Prine, Little Feat, The Band, and the vast community of immensely talented artists in the Midwest music scene.
