Night Train Rocks Biography

nighTTrain was formed in July of 2009 by four seasoned musicians with a passion for music and performing with a goal of doing something a little different than what other bands were doing: straight-up Classic Rock in the mold of acts like Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy and Van Halen. With James Dunham and Darin Forrest handling lead guitar and vocals and brothers Waylon Barnes and Tuff Barnes on bass and drums, they assembled a hard rocking show in just a few weeks and melted some faces at the Fall Halloween rally in Sparks, Oklahoma. After adding exciting frontman Joe Hall to the mix in 2010 and bassist Jeff Elmer in late 2013, the band is set to rock better than ever through 2014! After spending a few months in local venues, nighTTrain has been tearing up the regional casino circuit non-stop! The rotation includes Cherokee Casinos, Hard Rock of Tulsa, Downstream Casinos, and Choctaw Casinos all in Oklahoma. Songs include "guitar rock" hits from the 70’s, 80’s, 90's and 2000's with a few originals thrown in. nighTTrain is known for putting on concerts that are both high energy and fun! Contact nighTTrain management for booking info. 479-228-2013 or jldsooner@gmail.com James Dunham has been playing guitar for 35+ years and has influences in classic rock, hard rock and heavy metal. He has played many venues in the region including the main stage at Rocklahoma in 2008. He is passionate about performing and the music he plays. His influences include Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Robin Trower, Ace Frehley, Randy Rhoads, Gary Hoey and Casey Twist. James is a founding member of nighTTrain. Waylon Barnes has been playing regional venues for about 20 years with several bands spanning from punk to classic rock. He plays any instrument he can get his hands on and started out on bass but currently plays guitar in nighTTrain. His influences include, but not limited to, Spoon, Radiohead, NIN, T Rex, Ministry, Pantera, Megadeth, Les Savy Fav, Crystal Castle, She wants Revenge, Mudhoney, White Stripes and Rob Zombie. In July of 2017, Waylon returned to bass guitar and also provides vocals and unique keyboard stylings. (Waylon also loves long walks on the beach and mimosas at sunrise.) Tuff Barnes has been playing drums for 30+ years has played with several bands from OK and AR. He has influences from classic rock to country which include but not limited to Chuck Berry, The Eagles, The Beatles, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Pearl Jam, Kiss, Ted Nugent, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin and many others. He has played venues across OK and AR. He began playing drums as a teenager when his Dad's band couldn't keep a drummer. Now playing with three good friends and one and only brother which make up nighTTrain. Joe Hall has been playing in area bands for the past 20 years, starting out as a drummer in 1994 and after drumming in several bands, Joe eventually fronted his own band Jubilcain from 2002 to 2008. Joe plays guitar, drums, mandolin, bass and harmonica, and is also a song writer, having composed over 70 original songs so far, many of which were showcased with Jubilcain. He continues to write and compose original music both in and out of nighTTrain. His musical influences include Zeppelin, the Police, Neil Young, The Beatles, Blind Melon, Elvis Costello and many many other artists. Joe joined nighTTrain in 2010 and with the exception of a 10 month hiatus has fronted the band since that time. He continues to do his best to provide great vocals and an exciting show. "I just try to do every show better than the last one. I never want to go backwards, only forward." nighTTrain - Classic Rock For the Masses!
