Davey Arthur

1979 - Davey found success when The Furey Brothers and Davey Arthur became one of the biggest folk acts ever to come out of Ireland with a string of hits including international chart-toppers: The Green Fields of France and When You Were Sweet Sixteen... 1992 - Davey left The Fureys to pursue a solo career and work with many of the musicians he admired. His band members were chosen from a pool of Irish traditional talent and included Mike Galvin and Tadhg Twomey. Davey then went on to release two highly acclaimed albums as the band Davey Arthur & Co (Celtic Side Saddle / Cut to the Chase). These somewhat set the standard of Celtic music in a modern format and were extremely well produced for the digital age - yet very rootsy and traditional. The Level of musicianship on these recordings is truly remarkable - something that on the whole is sadly lacking in today's popular music scene. 1999 - Davey was honoured with a place in the Irish Music Hall of Fame in Dublin, alongside such other illustrious artists as U2, Sinéad O'Connor, The Corrs, The Chieftains, Da Dannan and Clannad. It was an accolade that many considered to have been long overdue. Television - Davey has made many guest appearances on numerous television programmes, including The Late, Late Show and more recently on Dutch TV. Radio - The airwaves are often full of Davey's dulcet tones when he is being interviewed and telling some amusing anecdote. He is renowned as a great raconteur and has that Irish gift for story-telling! When in the UK - he is in great demand! Make sure to listen next time he's on radio! 2005 - Davey re-joined The Fureys for the 25th Anniversary and has been with them ever since. Culture Ireland - Davey is also an active member of the board for CULTURE IRELAND - an organization that promotes Irish & Celtic arts worldwide. 2009 - saw the emergence of Davey's new show - AN EVENING WITH DAVEY ARTHUR & FRIENDS. Davey has had great success with the show on recent UK tours and hopes to also be touring in Europe in the near future. 2010 - Davey released a new CD "INTO THE LIGHT" - a compilation of his finest tracks, old and new. This was by popular request, as so many of his fans wanted a recording of songs from his show. 2011 - More touring with The Fureys and on tour in the UK with his own show - and of course......lots of radio interviews! 2012 January - The year started with an amazing short tour in January - standing ovations and sell-outs! 2012 SEPTEMBER - DAVEY WILL BE BACK IN THE UK WITH HIS OWN SHOW and hopes to meet many of his fans as he travels round the country.
