Joana Alegre

Cantautora Indie/Soul e vocalista Jazz/Gospel Joana Alegre estudou guitarra na Academia Duarte Costa, mais tarde voz, guitarra e piano complementar no Hot Club de Portugal, seguindo-se o curso de verão da New School For Jazz and Contemporary Music - Nova Iorque. Em Fevereiro de 2008 ficaria em 4º lugar no Billboard world songwriting contest, com a canção "Tribute to M" da produtora para ed.Farol, Joana Melo, e em 2010 integrou o melhor combo premiado na competição nacional "Festa do Jazz" no Teatro S. Luiz. Viveu uma temporada em Nova Iorque, continuando os seus estudos jazz com músicos como Theo Bleckmann, Steve Coleman e Aaron Goldberg, e também na área da multiperformance através da House Foudation de Meredith Monk, vindo a estrear os seus primeiros originais no The Shrine com a colaboração do DJ Fresh Nunas e a participação da cantora Adeline Michèle. No regresso a Portugal,com o apoio da Rádio Marginal lança o álbum The Pulse (2011) enquanto lead singer e autora das letras, integrando em simultâneo o Coro Gospel Collective como solista e iniciando uma série de parcerias e colaborações com músicos de renome na área do Jazz e da Pop. Mais recentemente juntou-se ao colectivo de musica autoral Escuta Lisboa, grande fonte de inspiração para assumir a sua música em território nacional. Joana Alegre began studying guitar at the Academy Duarte Costa, later she took on complementary piano, jazz guitar and jazz vocals on a jazz music degree at the Jazz School Luís Villas -Boas Hot Club of Portugal . After the completion of studies at the Hot Club, Joana successfully completed a summer course at the New School For Jazz and Contemporary Music - New York. There followed a stint in New York where she took the multi-performative workshop by Meredith Monk " body Singing / Dancing voice" , and where she could recur to lessons / masterclasses with great musicians such as Theo Bleckmann , Steve Coleman and Aaron Goldberg . After coming back to Portugal Joana released the album "The Pulse", of the group with the same name ( pop / jazz / soul ) as lead singer and lyricist. Joined the Gospel Collective Choir as a soloist and began a series of partnerships and collaborations with renowned musicians in Jazz and Pop music. She also integrated the first known authoral music collective from Lisbon - "Escuta Lisboa". The concerts and activities within this group inspired Joana coming forth with her own music.
