Jan George Biography

Jan George, the dynamic pop & dance artist hailing from Stockholm, Sweden, but originally born in Aleppo, Syria, captivates audiences across Europe with his infectious and energetic music and performances. His journey into music began at a tender age, influenced by his father's background as a professional drummer. From school performances to local festivals, Jan honed his skills and foreshadowed his future as a charming entertainer as he landed a memorable appearance at his first ever big festival stage at the age of just 15 years old opening Stockholm Pride 1999, affirming his calling as a performer.

Jan’s notable career milestones include his groundbreaking historic performance at Okej-Dagen Liseberg 2003 in Gothenburg, Sweden where he became the first and also only unsigned artist ever to secure a slot and grace the stage among other well established Swedish and international acts. This used to be a prestigious pop-magazine event that previously has launched the careers of renowned artists like Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls, Eminem, Aqua, Enrique Iglesias to just name a few. This remarkable opportunity Jan George had earned did not only raise the music businesses eyebrows, but also made him an artist to recognise and almost a first off a kind with the DIY model, without a major label backing.

The following summer and year he started touring overseas and debuted on his first international stages in Europe with gigs at Rockoff Festival 2003 on Åland Islands (Finland), Aarosfestivalen in Västerås, moving on to be one of the closing acts for Europes biggest pride festival CSD Köln, Germany, and to later be the headline act for Helsinki Pride 2004. This all started to happen while Jan was still trying to maintain school and finding a balance with life as a youth.

In 2006, Jan George embarked on a summer tour that included performances in Sweden and Athens, Greece during the Eurovision Song Contest. His journey then brought him back to Germany again showcasing his growing popularity, highlighted by performing for the second time at CSD Köln, Europe's biggest pride festival, entertaining a crowd of 30,000. He continued his tour with stops in Frankfurt, Wurzburg, and München, captivating up to 20,000 attendees. Despite offers for a record deal in Germany at the end of the summer, Jan George decided to turn it down, opting to wait for stronger material while refining his craft and for better deals.

Throughout his career, Jan George has been dedicated to charitable causes, performing at events like World AIDS Day and advocating for inclusivity, diversity in society and he emphasizes the importance of using one's talents and platform to support others in need!

Beyond his stage presence, Jan's entrepreneurial spirit led him to launch his own nightclub 2009, Club Xplore, in Stockholm, Sweden which quickly became a major success. Notably, he hosted the first-ever Eurovision preview party at the club, featuring nine popular acts on stage, with Jan hosting it as the moderator, creating an unforgettable night for Stockholm. As he managed his club, Jan also began DJing at various prominent clubs, solidifying his reputation as an entrepreneur. To tantalize his audience with glimpses of his new coming material, he exclusively performed at a few events in Sweden. Later that summer, Jan moved to Spain for a bartending education, falling in love with the profession and deciding to reside in Gran Canaria for a year, working at the renowned nightclub Heaven.

Jan George returned to his passion and the stage at Maspalomas Pride 2011 in Gran Canaria, Spain, performing two shows in front of 15,000 audience members each. This experience and feedback he received from the audience inspired him to finally release his first single, "Always In My Heart," on July 25th, which reached #15 on iTunes Swedish Dance Chart despite minimal promotion.
He then released his second single “Give It Up” and made a few appearances on stage in Stockholm promoting them, to later go back into the studio to record a full-length album in preparations for whats to come the coming year. Jan is also credited as co-writer and co-producer on almost 80% of the album, as he involved his vision and heart to write about love, a broken heart and wanted it to be showcased in his first album with tracks he could relate to and in the EDM genre he loves.

The following year Jan George kicked off his 2012 summer tour at Maspalomas Pride once again, performing for crowds of up to 20,000. Initially planned for two shows, the demand led to six performances, receiving an overwhelming response from both the audience, booking agents and fellow stage acts. Throughout the successful summer tour across Spain, Germany and first time in Netherlands, and the UK, Jan promoted his third single, "Habibi" which now was signed on 3 different labels and his upcoming album "Play To Win."

His international success continued as "Habibi" achieved impressive chart-topping success across multiple countries, including reaching #1 on the German Newcomer chart, #7 on the British Dance Chart, #16 on the German Pop Chart, #32 on Dance50 Deutschland to name a few, and picked up by various radio stations.

In 2013, Jan embarked on a successful 3-month tour across the Netherlands and the UK, as Jan himself says “Must be one of my busiest so far and most amazing summers ever” promoting his fourth single, "Party Like A Rockstar," at radios, festivals and clubs. The tour's success prompted him to relocate to Leeds, UK, for a year and later Liverpool for 7 years, where he dedicated himself entirely to his career. Following the move, Jan took the opportunity and determined completed the studies he dropped out from in school, while sporadically doing exclusive gigs during the summers in the UK. He also took the opportunity to reinvent himself, travel, and gain new experiences while seeing the world, and now lives back home in Stockholm, Sweden focusing on recording new material reflects his ongoing commitment to reinvention and exploration for future endeavours.
