Margaret Valentine Biography
Margaret Valentine - Songwriter and Singer- Country, Alt-Country, Crossover Margaret Valentine's songwriting is influenced by her early alternative and rock music roots combined with her passion for writing country and crossover songs that range in style from edgey to lilting ballads. Spending her early performing days on the upstate New York live circuit, Margaret opened for artists like Joan Osborne and Tonic. Inspired by early writing influences like Tori Amos and Stevie Nicks, she has continued to hone her lyrical skills and harmonic style while developing an original country and crossover songwriting signature. Margaret's recent single "Love and Affection" has received radio play, and she was a featured artist on WEXT-97.7FM. Her distinctive early influences have melted into the fabric of what is now her alternately mournful, honest, and hopeful country sound reminiscent of Country music favorites like Wynonna Judd, Miranda Lambert, and Hal Ketchum. Her gift for lyrical creation and harmonic tribute has generated collaborations in her recording and live shows with elite musicians. Margaret currently works with well known guitarist Mark Shulman, percussionist Gary Seligson, keyboardist Dan Weiss and other top players, all of whom are highly regarded musicians who have regularly performed live or recorded with artists and shows including the Eagles, Shania Twain, Bon Jovi, Broadway productions Motown and Rent, Suzanne Vega, Bob Dylan, and Sean Colvin. Margaret combines the rarest of gifts as songwriter and singer in love with the possibilities of music and of life. Margaret Valentine hails from Saratoga Springs, NY.
