Thorn Constellation Biography

Thorn Constellation is a five piece heavy metal band based out of Amityville, Long Island with members spanning from across Long Island, the Bronx and Brooklyn. They formed in late 2010 when vocalist John Alaia (formerly of New York bands Year of Confession and Moth Eater) and guitarist Andrew Velez (former guitarist for Long Island band Eyes Cried Red) put their minds together to form a metal band that would draw its inspiration from horror movies; classics and modern alike. They quickly teamed up with drummer Dimitry "Duke" Borisov (formerly of Scar Culture (Century Media Records) and currently in the New York based rock group MP Project http://www.mpprojectnyc.com) and began song developing and writing. After some amicable changes to their group, they added bassist Frank Fisicaro (former singer of New York metal band Lesser Being) and guitarist Troy Wilkerson to complete their current lineup. Drawing musical inspiration from bands such as Meshuggah, Vildhjarta, At the Gates, Gojira, Morbid Angel, Death, Dehumanized, Suffocation, Veil of Maya, The Acacia Strain, and Periphery, and more, they continue to write songs that deliver both a brutally crushing and groove-oriented version of metal music into a pulsing New York scene. By generating an original and entertaining performance style, they manage to appeal to a mass heavy metal audience. Having shared the stage with acts such as Mortician, Alekhine's Gun and Sworn Enemy, they continue to build a buzz in the music industry. In February 2012, Thorn Constellation (with former guitarist Danny Trapani) released their debut self-titled EP, recorded at Full Force Studios. They are currently playing shows around the New York Metropolitan Area, as they continue to write new material for their upcoming debut LP. Horror and Metal
